Who KEPPO is
Helping your child in his journey to learn another language is very difficult when you do not speak that language fluently (if at all). KEPPO is not a language school; we do not give primary language instruction. Instead, we help parents supplement the language education their children are getting elsewhere in language immersion programs, language classes, or as they learn English as their second language.
이중언어 교육에 대한 관심이 급증하면서 자신들의 자녀에게 모국어를 비롯해 두 가지 이상의 언어를 가르치는 부모님들이 점차 늘어나고 있습니다. 하지만 자신의 모국어가 아닌 언어를 아이들에게 가르치는 일은 매우 어렵습니다. KEPPO는 단순히 언어만 가르치는 학습기관이 아닙니다. 우리는 부모님들이 보다 효과적으로 자녀들의 이중언어 교육을 도울 수 있도록 노력합니다.
At KEPPO, we know it is difficult to find media that is appropriate and interesting for your child to read, hear, and watch at her own level in a language that is foreign to you. On our website, you will find recommendations for books, videos, podcasts, and more along with advice on finding the right fit for your child. All of the information on our website is presented in English and Korean (although websites we link to may not).
보다 효과적인 언어학습을 위해서는 아이들 수준에 맞는 다양하고 재미있는 볼거리와 읽을거리를 찾는 것이 매우 중요하지만 부모님들이 자신들의 모국어가 아닌 자료를 찾는 것은 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 우리는 이런 부모님들을 대신하여 영어와 한국어로 된 각종 추천 도서, 비디오, 팟 캐스트 등 다양한 학습자료를 제공합니다.

At the heart of language learning is the desire to communicate and connect with others. We have created an avenue for parents to do just that. Through our website, you can connect with other parents from your school (or local area) in a private forum where you can discuss issues pertinent to your school, organize cultural events or meetups after school, or maybe a bilingual parent can translate some of the worksheets from your children’s class so you can keep up with what they are learning. Included in the private forum is a sign-up sheet designed for parents to find extra small group help for their children in the language they are learning and to volunteer their time to help others with the language they already know.
우리가 언어를 배우는 이유는 바로 소통을 하기 위함입니다. KEPPO.org에서는 학생들과 학부모님들을 위한 다양한 소통의 장을 제공합니다. 학부모님들은 오픈 포럼을 통해 자녀들의 학교와 관련된 다양한 이슈들을 토론하고 직접 방과후 프로그램과 각종 문화 행사를 기획할 수 있으며 자녀들의 학습 도우미도 찾을 수 있습니다.
